Contracts, Tax, and Banking โ€” or how to get money from Apple

April 7, 2014 ยท 5 min read

If you plan to sell your apps on the App Store, then after getting access to iTunes Connect you must sign the Paid Applications agreement: fill in your banking details and the tax form.

The full text of this post was not preserved in the web archive โ€” only the announcement and key points recovered from the April 2014 archive listing. What follows is the recovered part.

The key steps I had to go through (from memory and from the announcement):

  1. Contracts, Tax, and Banking in iTunes Connect โ€” the section where you sign the Paid Applications agreement. Without it, no money from sales is credited to you.
  2. Banking โ€” your bank account details for payouts. You will need the bank’s SWIFT code and correspondent account number.
  3. Tax Forms โ€” the tax form (for non-US developers, W-8BEN), confirming that you do not pay US taxes. Without it, Apple withholds up to 30โ€“40%.
  4. After signing, the agreement goes into Pending status โ€” review takes a few days.

If you are going through this process right now โ€” write to me, I am happy to share my experience: imaximus.gs@gmail.com.
